Patagonia is a region covering a vast area at the southern tip of South America, spanning parts of Argentina and Chile. With its stunning landscapes and wild atmosphere, it’s a destination that takes more than one trip to get to know. From snow-capped mountains and glaciers to turquoise lakes and active volcanoes, there’s no shortage of attractions and sights to explore. And on a motorcycle, the experience of discovering this region becomes even more incredible!
That’s why ROXMOTORS runs several different itineraries in the region — and in this edition we invite you to get to know one of them: Patagonia Experience. It’s a tour designed for those who don’t have many days free in the calendar for a long trip and who are looking for solid tourism infrastructure, good hotels, excellent food, breathtaking scenery and the support of a team experienced in motorcycle touring, for a comfortable and safe experience.
Here’s the schedule of this unforgettable trip!
THE TRIP SCHEDULE
The journey begins in Puerto Montt, Chile, one of the best-equipped cities in Patagonia and easily reached by flights from a range of regions. Participants are met at the airport by the ROXMOTORS team and checked into a hotel carefully selected by the team. Once everyone has arrived, it’s time to get acquainted with your travelling companion: the motorcycle. Keys are handed over and the ROX guides answer any questions about the bikes. In the evening, the group gathers for the briefing, followed by a welcome dinner — a great opportunity to meet your fellow adventurers and start soaking up the atmosphere of the region!
The next day, it’s time to hit the road. After crossing the border between Chile and Argentina, the group heads for charming Villa La Angostura, a small paradise that captivates visitors with its scenery and welcoming atmosphere. A lunch stop allows for a well-earned rest and the chance to explore a little of this friendly Argentine village. The next destination is Bariloche, a cosmopolitan city ringed by lakes and mountains, famous for its cuisine and its artisanal chocolate. The evening promises plenty, with dinner in town accompanied by good wines and Argentine beef.
Although famous as a winter destination, Bariloche has a great deal to offer in summer. So the third day of the tour is dedicated to the city. A ride around the “Circuito Chico”, taking in spots such as Lake Moreno and Cerro Campanario — with its breathtaking panoramic view — is one of the day’s activities. There are also plenty of trails and beautiful parks to explore.
Leaving Bariloche wanting more, the destination on day four is San Martín de los Andes, also in Argentina.
And along the way lies one of Patagonia’s greatest treasures: the famous Ruta de los Siete Lagos. Its reputation is well earned — the road is surrounded by crystal-clear lakes in shades of turquoise that look like something out of a film. It’s all sweeping curves, spectacular scenery and the feeling of being somewhere still undiscovered. With phones full of beautiful photos, the journey continues to San Martín de los Andes, a destination that combines the charm of a small village with the grandeur of Patagonian nature. The local food is a show in itself, with regional dishes such as game meats, trout and the classic Patagonian lamb. Small craft shops and chocolate makers round out a stroll through the town centre.
On day five, beautiful back roads and yet more breathtaking views delight riders and pillions on the way to Pucón, Chile. Although the distance isn’t long, the winding roads and scheduled stops make the ride full of surprises. Arriving in Pucón — a town on the shores of Lake Villarrica, at the foot of the imposing volcano of the same name — the group has the chance to enjoy the evening with a walk around town and an excellent dinner.
The following day is for resting and exploring the region’s attractions. For those after a little more adrenaline, the Villarrica volcano offers the chance to climb up to the viewpoint, with panoramic views as the reward. You can also admire the volcano from a distance, especially at night, when the incandescent glow of its crater is visible. For those who’d rather explore the town, central Pucón is lively, with restaurants, bars and craft shops. On the food front, classic Chilean dishes such as grilled meats and empanadas take centre stage, alongside international options.
On the last day of riding, the group leaves the hotel early to explore the majestic Andes. The visit to Osorno Volcano, one of the most famous in the region, is the highlight of the day. A cable car takes the riders up to a breathtaking view, with the chance to slide around in the snow — a surprising experience, considering it’s summer! At the end of the day, the group returns to Puerto Montt for a farewell dinner, celebrating the incredible moments of the journey.
The next morning, after an intense week with a camera full of photos and special memories to match, it’s time for the transfers to Puerto Montt airport. The goodbye always comes with a wanting-more feeling. After all, travelling through Patagonia by motorcycle is more than just a trip: it’s a transformative experience. Landscapes that look like they came out of a dream, the challenges of the road and the connection with wild nature turn every kilometre ridden into an unforgettable memory!
