Motorcycle Tour of Yellowstone and Sturgis
A motorcycle tour of Yellowstone and Sturgis links some of the most iconic scenery in the American West to the largest Harley-Davidson gathering on the planet. Over 10 days and roughly 3,100 km, the ROXMOTORS route loops out of Salt Lake City through Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana — taking in the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, the Beartooth Pass and Yellowstone National Park.
The spirit of American motorcycling
This is a big-mileage crossing, with demanding riding days and cinematic scenery. The route combines the long straights of Wyoming, the tunnels cut through rock in the Black Hills, the climb over the Beartooth Pass above 3,300 metres and the geothermal force of Yellowstone. In the middle of it, five days in rally country, when the Black Hills become the global centre of Harley-Davidson culture. It is the only ROXMOTORS route that combines a fixed-date event, a Harley fleet and a mountain crossing.
What you will see
- Sturgis Motorcycle Rally — immersion in the world’s largest motorcycle gathering, with meets, exhibitions and side events;
- Black Hills and Needles Highway — technical curves and tunnels cut through the rock, such as the Needles Eye Tunnel;
- Mount Rushmore — the faces of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln carved into the mountain;
- Devils Tower — the rock formation rising abruptly from the plain, the setting of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”;
- Beartooth Pass — the climb above 3,300 metres, with high-altitude switchbacks and panoramic views;
- Yellowstone National Park — geysers, geothermal formations and the wildlife of the oldest national park in the United States.

Getting ready
Entry rules for the United States depend on your nationality: many travellers need an ESTA authorisation, others a visitor visa — check what applies to you and start early. An International Driving Permit is recommended, and travel insurance is already included. August in the American West is hot on the plains and cold at altitude: on the Beartooth, above 3,300 metres, the temperature drops sharply even in summer. About a month before departure we open a WhatsApp group with the road book, packing tips, paperwork and currency guidance.
Frequently asked questions

- What will I be riding? A Harley-Davidson Softail — the natural choice for anyone heading to Sturgis.
- Do I need a US visa? It depends on your nationality — some travellers qualify for ESTA, others need a visitor visa. Start the process as soon as you book.
- Can I bring a pillion? Yes, but bear in mind this is our highest-mileage North America route, with days of more than 600 km.
- Can I skip the rally? You can, but the route is built around the Sturgis dates. If you prefer empty roads, the National Parks or Canada suit you better.
