A motorcycle tour of Scandinavia takes you through what many riders consider the finest scenery on earth: fjords, vast tunnels, suspension bridges and the Trollstigen. Over 14 days and roughly 3,350 km, the ROXMOTORS Vikings Experience starts in Hamburg and crosses Denmark, Norway and Sweden, with free days in Oslo, Voss and Copenhagen.

The longest route — and the most cinematic

This is the highest mileage European tour in the ROXMOTORS portfolio, and every kilometre earns its place. Norway holds the heart of the tour: the world’s longest road tunnel, the Geirangerfjord, the boats that cross the fjords, and the Trollstigen, one of the most famous roads in motorcycling. At either end, Copenhagen and Hamburg bring Viking heritage, castles and the contemporary architecture that defines northern Europe. All 100% tarmac, at the most relaxed level on the scale.

• Trollstigen — one of Norway’s most iconic stretches and a fixture on any list of the world’s great motorcycling roads;
• Norwegian fjords — Geirangerfjord and Sognefjord, with a boat trip from Gudvangen to Flåm between waterfalls and mountains;
• The Flåm Railway — considered one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world, on the free day in Voss;
• Oslo — the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum and the Munch Museum, on a full free day;
• Copenhagen — Nyhavn, the Round Tower, historic castles and Viking villages, with a free day in the Danish capital;
• Gothenburg — the Liseberg park, the archipelago and the food scene of Sweden’s second city.

Route summary

• Day 1 — Hamburg, Germany: arrival, group briefing and handover of the motorcycles;
• Days 2 to 4 — heading north: Kolding in Denmark, the ferry crossing and arrival in Oslo, with a free day in the Norwegian capital;
• Days 5 to 9 — fjord country: Voss and the world’s longest road tunnel, a free day with the fjord boat and the Flåm railway, Geiranger, the Trollstigen to Molde and down to Hamar;
• Days 10 to 12 — Sweden and Denmark: Gothenburg, Copenhagen and a free day in the Danish capital;
• Days 13 and 14 — return: the ferry back to Hamburg, farewell dinner and end of tour.

Getting ready

Most visitors need only a passport valid for at least six months to enter the Schengen Area for stays of up to 90 days — check the rules for your nationality. Norway, Sweden and Denmark are all in the Schengen Area, but none of them uses the euro. An International Driving Permit is recommended, and the mandatory travel insurance is already included. Even in July the weather in the fjords turns quickly, so waterproof kit is essential. About a month before departure we open a WhatsApp group with the road book, packing tips, paperwork and currency guidance.

Frequently asked questions

• Do I need my own motorcycle? No. The motorcycle is included and waiting for you at the start of the tour in Hamburg.
• Can I bring a pillion? Yes. The route is 100% tarmac with three free days, though it is the highest mileage tour we run — worth considering for the pair.
• Is it very cold in July? Temperatures in the fjords are mild and the days extremely long. Rain and wind are frequent, which is why waterproof gear is on the packing list.
• When is the best time to go? July, when the tour runs: it is the window when every Norwegian mountain road, the Trollstigen included, is open.
