ROADMAP
Day 01 – Jan 22 – Friday: Arrival in Punta Arenas, CHL
Arrival in the southernmost city of Chile. Reception, check-in, and a full technical briefing for the expedition: weather, Patagonian winds, border crossings, and logistics for the days ahead. Welcome dinner. The feeling is clear: this is not just a trip — it’s a continental crossing.
Day 02 – Jan 23 – Saturday: Punta Arenas, CHL >> Puerto Natales, CHL | 250 km
First contact with real Patagonia. Open roads, endless horizons, and strong crosswinds set the pace for the day. Smooth riding, minimalist landscapes, and an absolute sense of freedom. Arrival in Puerto Natales, gateway to Torres del Paine.
Day 03 – Jan 24 – Sunday: Puerto Natales, CHL – Torres del Paine, CHL | 150 km
A day dedicated to Torres del Paine National Park. Electric-blue lakes, granite massifs, and Patagonian wildlife create one of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth. A lighter day, strategically planned for contemplation, photography, and physical recovery.
Day 04 – Jan 25 – Monday: Puerto Natales, CHL >> El Calafate, ARG | 270 km
We cross into Argentina. The landscape shifts subtly, but the grandeur remains. Arrival in El Calafate early in the afternoon. Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier — one of the most impressive and active glaciers in the world. A true highlight of the journey.
Day 05 – Jan 26 – Tuesday: El Calafate, ARG >> Gobernador Gregores, ARG | 360 km
A deep crossing through Argentine Patagonia. Long, isolated stretches and the famous “76 cursed miles” — rough gravel roads that serve as preparation for the Carretera Austral. Arrival in Gobernador Gregores, a simple, strategic, and functional town.
Day 06 – Jan 27 – Wednesday: Gobernador Gregores, ARG >> Chile Chico, CHL | 300 km
The transition begins. Mountains draw closer, turquoise lakes appear on the horizon, and Lake General Carrera marks our definitive entry into the Carretera Austral. We’ll spend the night on the Chilean side, ready (and excited) to fully experience the carretera.
Day 07 – Jan 28 – Thursday: Chile Chico, CHL >> Puerto Río Tranquilo, CHL | 140 km
A shorter yet iconic day. Riding along the shores of Lake General Carrera (one of the largest in the region) to Puerto Río Tranquilo. In the afternoon, a boat excursion to the Marble Chapels — rock formations sculpted by water over thousands of years. A strategic day for rest after an intense sequence on the road.
Day 08 – Jan 29 – Friday: Puerto Río Tranquilo, CHL >> Coyhaique, CHL | 320 km
One of the most complete days on the Carretera Austral. Constant transitions between gravel and pavement, glacial rivers, dense forests, and deep valleys. Arrival in Coyhaique, the main city of the Aysén region.
Day 09 – Jan 30 – Saturday: Coyhaique, CHL >> La Junta, CHL | 270 km
Green Patagonia takes over the scenery. Dense forests, crystal-clear rivers, and fjords begin to appear. We are truly living the carretera! Arrival in La Junta, a small and strategic village for rest in this remote region of Chile.
Day 10 – Jan 31 – Sunday: La Junta, CHL >> Esquel, ARG | 200 km
Last day on the Carretera Austral! The border town is Futaleufú, world-renowned for nature and adventure sports. A charming place where we say goodbye to Route 7. After crossing into Argentina, we ride a great stretch of asphalt with technical curves and highly enjoyable riding all the way to Esquel.
Day 11 – Feb 01 – Monday: Esquel, ARG >> Bariloche, ARG | 250 km
An early start to make the most of a city that needs no introduction. We are in the Patagonian Andes in their classic form: alpine lakes, forests, and perfect roads.
Day 12 – Feb 02 – Tuesday: Bariloche, ARG – Free day
A day to rest, explore the Circuito Chico, visit Cerro Campanario, or simply enjoy the gastronomy and views of the Andean lakes. A strategic pause before the final major international crossing.
Day 13 – Feb 03 – Wednesday: Bariloche, ARG >> Puerto Varas, CHL | 310 km
Final major crossing. We return to Chile through the lake and volcano region. Scenic roads, farms, crystal-clear lakes, and the unmistakable feeling of mission accomplished. Arrival in Puerto Montt in the late afternoon.
Day 14 – Feb 04 – Thursday: Puerto Varas, CHL – Departure
Check-out and return flights.
We conclude one of the most complete crossings in South America: Southern Patagonia + Carretera Austral + Andes in a single, linear and epic expedition.
