A motorcycle tour through Portugal and Spain means crossing the Iberian Peninsula between castles, historic mountains, centuries-old vineyards and some of the best roads in Europe. In terms of variety, it is the most complete ROXMOTORS route in the region: 14 days taking in 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites and 7 nature parks, from Lisbon to Andalusia.

The route weaves history, nature and food into a single ride: Portuguese medieval villages, the crossing of the Serra da Estrela, the Douro vineyards and a Spanish finale through Andalusia — all on winding roads that beg to be ridden.

What you will see in Portugal and Spain

Sintra and Cabo da Roca — castles, palaces and the westernmost point of continental Europe;
Serra da Lousã and Piodão — one of Portugal’s most traditional villages, its stone houses set into the valley;
Serra da Estrela — hundreds of curves up to the highest point in mainland Portugal, at almost 2,000 metres;
The Douro Valley — a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its terraced vineyards and port wine;
Picos de Europa and Tordesillas — striking mountains and history on the Spanish leg;
Andalusia — Seville, Granada and Córdoba to close the route.

Portugal and Spain tour itinerary at a glance

Day 1 — Lisbon, Portugal: airport pick-up, welcome dinner and briefing;
Day 2 — Lisbon > Sintra > Cabo da Roca: castles, palaces and the westernmost point of Europe, with the traditional pastéis de Belém;
Following days: the Sanctuary of Fátima, Serra da Lousã, a night in Piodão and the crossing of the Serra da Estrela, with lunch in Belmonte facing the castle;
Mid-tour: the Douro region, with its terraced vineyards and visits to the wine estates;
Spanish leg: Picos de Europa, Tordesillas and the descent into Andalusia;
Last day: farewell dinner and airport transfers.

Get ready for the ride

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended, and the mandatory travel insurance is already included in the package. Check your own country’s visa requirements for the Schengen Area, and make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months. About a month before the tour we open a WhatsApp group with the road book and tips on luggage, paperwork and currency.

Do I need my own motorcycle? No. The bike is included and waiting for you at the start of the tour, in Lisbon.
