Motorcycle Tour of Canada

Motorcycle Tour of Canada

A motorcycle tour of Canada means riding the Canadian Rockies, among turquoise lakes, glaciers and forests where moose and bears still cross the road. Over 11 days and roughly 2,740 km, the ROXMOTORS route loops out of Vancouver through British Columbia and into Alberta along the Icefields Parkway.

One of the most beautiful roads in the world

This is the longest and most complete ROXMOTORS route in North America, and the one with the most riding days. British Columbia delivers curves by the hundred — more than 300 on the Nelson to Revelstoke leg alone — and the Icefields Parkway, between Banff and Jasper, appears on every list of the world’s most beautiful roads. Along the way there are glacial lakes, hot springs, the town of Banff inside the national park and a 6×6 coach ride out onto a glacier. All 100% tarmac, at the most relaxed level on the scale.

What you will see in Canada

  • Icefields Parkway — the road between Banff and Jasper, considered one of the most beautiful in the world, with a glacier excursion;
  • Lake Louise and Moraine Lake — the two most photographed glacial lakes in the Rockies, with Takakkaw Falls on the same day;
  • Banff — a free day in the town inside the national park, with the gondola that is its most visited attraction;
  • Whistler and Squamish — Highway 99 out of Vancouver, via the Lions Gate Bridge and the Capilano suspension bridge;
  • Nelson and Revelstoke — the Kootenay mountains, with more than 300 curves in a single day and a lake crossing by ferry;
  • Fraser River Canyon — the Gold Rush Trail, Hell’s Gate and Spences Bridge on the way back to Vancouver.

Getting ready

Most visitors to Canada need either an eTA authorisation or a visitor visa, depending on nationality — check what applies to you. Worth checking your flight routing too: a connection through the United States has its own entry requirements even without leaving the airport. An International Driving Permit is recommended, and travel insurance is already included. June in the Rockies brings long days and mild temperatures, but it turns cold at altitude: pack a thermal layer. About a month before departure we open a WhatsApp group with the road book, packing tips, paperwork and currency guidance.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I need my own motorcycle? No. The motorcycle is included and waiting for you at the start of the tour in Vancouver.
  • Do I need a visa for Canada? Depending on your nationality, either an eTA or a visitor visa. If your flights route through the United States, US entry requirements apply as well.
  • Can I bring a pillion? Yes. The route is 100% tarmac, with a free day in Banff and well spaced daily distances.
  • Is wildlife common on the road? Yes. Moose and bears appear regularly in the Kootenays and the Rockies — the briefing covers how to handle it.
  • When is the best time to go? June, when the tour runs: the passes are clear of snow, the days are long and the summer crowds have not arrived.
